Ten Best Chick Flicks To Watch On Netflix Right Now
So here I am in New York City working, living, being trendy (obvi) but right now there’s this thing called weather going on outside. And this weather is a mix of snow and rain and clouds and cold and wind. Now as much as I love snow and cold weather, I really do honest, I just can’t force myself to go in it for anything. Other than my job, which is really just an excuse to rake in money so I can go shoe shopping. But this weather doesn’t allow me to wear my cute shoes! It forces me to go out in my L.L Bean Wellies. Not that I don’t love them, but seriously I just want to sit in my bed, cuddled in my comforter, with a pint of Adirondack Creamery Chocolate Ice Cream and watch chick flicks.
So that’s what I’m doing. And here are my suggestions on what to watch right now as we all hunker down for yet another storm that just isn’t nearly as exciting as all the other storms, kind of like the summer arrival of The Hangover 3.
Number 1: The best chick flick of all time on Netflix is Sleepless in Seattle. I have seen this movie more times than I can count. I love Tom Hanks, I love Meg Ryan, I love an Affair to Remember (Also another Netflix romance you can catch up on), and I love Rita Wilson in this movie. She is hilarious.
Number 2: Clueless. It’s a classic! As if you would think about watching anything else! Be a Betty and watch this immediately!
Number 3: Maid in Manhattan. I mean J Lo, Lord Voldemort, and an adorable kid, what more do you need?
Number 4: Ghost. If for nothing else, to listen to The Righteous Brothers and have it stuck in your head for days, and to see Whoopi. It also might help you get over the fact that Dirty Dancing is not on Netflix.
Number 5: Pretty in Pink. This is just one of those movies. It feels good to watch it. Like you’re in your mom’s living room and you can smell her cooking something, and you know everything is right with the world. That’s how I feel when I watch it.
Number 6: I Hate Valentine’s Day. So you’ve probably never heard of it. Me either until it was suggested to me by the people at Netflix who seem to know more about my movie preferences than anyone else. It has Nia Vardalos (My Big Fat Greek Wedding) and Jon Corbett. So hello, reunion! It’s adorable and Nia wrote it so I love it even more for that. I promise you will enjoy it.
Number 7: My Best Friend’s Wedding. This movie has the best soundtrack of classic 1950′s love songs and I can’t help but sing along. It’s Julia Roberts, it would be better if they had Pretty Woman, but beggars can’t be choosers and this movie is still pretty fun to watch!
Number 8: Like Crazy. Now this movie is not a comedy. Not by a long shot. But I felt I needed to include it, because it is one of those movies you can watch while lounging in bed. But damn it’s kind of depressing. Romantic, but depressing. I thought it was a really good movie and I’m guessing a lot of people didn’t see it. But it’s indie and cool and there’s British accents so it’s something to watch. Although you may end up re-evaluating your life at the end. Or at least thinking about getting a new desk chair…
Number 9: Girls Just Want to have Fun. SJP, Helen Hunt, Dancing, the 80′s, enough said.
Number 10: Beauty & the Briefcase. This stars my girl Hilary Duff who I have loved since Lizzie McGuire. She narrates this movie too and it is just so cheesy and filled with cute clothes that you won’t care that it’s really not that good. Also the guys in it are super cute, so why wouldn’t you watch it!
